Feldenkrais Training

The topic of Feldenkrais© trainings is a large one. If you simply want to experience the Feldenkrais Method, you do not have to take a training. You can take a class or workshop by your local practitioner or buy a product online. However, if you want to become a Feldenkrais practitioner, you will need to take a training.

There are dozens of Feldenkrais Trainings all over the world. Many are sanctioned by the various Feldenkrais Training Boards such as the North American Training and Accredidation Board (NATAB). There are over a dozen Feldenkrais Guilds in various parts of the world. There are also several trainings that are not sanctioned by a Feldenkrais Guild.

The first trainings by Moshe Feldenkrais consisted of yearly 8-week training intensives over a four year period. Now, there are many different training formats. Some have twice yearly segments that each last 4-weeks. Others do four 2-weeks segments. There are even some weekend format trainings designed to make it easier to do the training with minimal disruption to your home and work life.

The Feldenkrais Method and trainings are often considered to be complementary to allied health professions, performing artists, martial artists, and educators in many fields. Personally, I took a Feldenkrais training for my own personal growth and development. At the time that I am writing this short article, the Feldenkrais Method is certainly not a household word. So, if you are going to take a training and succeed in developing a practice you are will need either to have or develop many skills.

Many people who succeed at the work already have a license such as a physical therapy or medical license that allows them to bill insurance companies. Others, like myself, use technology to do the work - selling products and training online. There are many successful Feldenkrais Practitioners who are not certified and licensed in other modalities. However, you must be focused and skilled to build a practice based solely on your Feldenkrais skills. Why? Simply because the work is not yet well known. Often people come to see a Feldenkrais practioner as a last resort. Their doctor, physical therapist, massage therapist or psychotherapist can't seem to help them, so they find themselves in your office. I hope at some point, this state of affairs will change. But it will take the time and hard work of many people.

The best way to find a Feldenkrais Professional Training program is to do a search on Google, Yahoo or another search engine.
